Nov 19th - The Famine of God’s Word
Reading: Amos 8:11-14; 2 Timothy 4:3-4; Deuteronomy 8:3
Devotional: Amos prophesied a terrifying judgment: not a famine of food, but of hearing God's word. After repeatedly rejecting God's messengers, the people would desperately search for divine guidance but find only silence. This spiritual starvation is more devastating than physical hunger.
We live in an age of unprecedented access to Scripture, yet many treat God's word casually or ignore it entirely. Churches sometimes dilute biblical truth to accommodate cultural preferences. We must not take for granted our ability to hear from God. His word is our spiritual sustenance, more essential than daily bread. Treasure the Scriptures while they remain freely available. Read them daily, meditate on them deeply, and allow them to transform your life. Share God's truth with others before the opportunity passes. What would your life look like if God's word suddenly became unavailable?
