Nov 7th - Using Our Listening Ears
Reading: Luke 8:4-15; James 1:19-25
Devotional: Jesus ends the parable of the sower with "Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear." The issue isn't whether the Word is sown—it's what kind of soil receives it. Hard paths, rocky ground, thorny patches, and good soil all hear the same seed. The difference is receptivity. James urges us to be "quick to listen, slow to speak" and to not merely hear the Word but do what it says. God speaks, but are we truly listening? Listening requires intentionality—turning off distractions, opening Scripture with expectation, and cultivating a soft heart. Today, commit to being good soil. When you don't understand, ask questions like the disciples did. When conviction comes, respond with obedience. Put on your "listening ears" and truly hear what the Lord is saying.
Reflection Question: What practical step will you take this week to become better soil for God's Word?
