Renamed and Redefined

Reading: John 1:40-42; 2 Corinthians 5:17

Devotional: Simon didn't choose to become Peter. Jesus looked at this impulsive fisherman and declared a new identity: "You are a rock." How jarring that must have been—to have someone see past your present reality to your future potential. Jesus doesn't see you as the sum of your mistakes, your resume, or your worst moments. He sees who you're becoming in Him. The old identities we cling to—the failures we can't forget, the labels others have given us—don't have the final word. Christ does. Today, you may still feel like Simon—messy, ordinary, struggling. But Jesus sees the rock. He's calling you by a name you haven't earned but have been given by grace. Will you accept it?
