Sanctuary Project Launched
This past week marked a joyful moment in the life of our church and community with the launch of The Sanctuary Project, a new warm space and support hub based at St Andrew’s Church, extending the amazing work of our foodbank.
You can view some of the amazing coverage of the team here.
The Sanctuary Project has grown out of the long-standing work of our Kinson and West Howe Foodbank volunteers and their amazing team, and reflects a shared desire to offer more than emergency help alone. It is a place designed to offer warmth in every sense - somewhere people can sit, rest, share a hot drink, and be welcomed with dignity and kindness.
Open during the week, The Sanctuary provides comfortable seating, refreshments, light meals, and access to food support, alongside space for conversation and connection. For some, it will be a quiet place to pause; for others, a doorway to further help with forms, housing or benefits advice, or simply the reassurance of being listened to. Above all, it is a space where no one needs to justify their need in order to belong.
The opening has already been warmly received by local residents and volunteers, and we are grateful for the many people who have given time, prayer, resources and encouragement to make this possible. It has been deeply moving to see the church buildings used in this way, not only as a place of worship on Sundays but as a lived expression of welcome throughout the week.
The Sanctuary Project reminds us that hospitality is at the heart of the gospel: making room, sharing what we have, and offering presence as well as provision. We continue to pray that this space will be a place of peace, support and friendship for many across Kinson and the surrounding area.
If you would like to be involved - whether through volunteering, prayer, or practical support, further details are available via the church website, or by speaking to a member of the team.
Please keep The Sanctuary Project, its volunteers, and all who walk through its doors in your prayers.
